MY STORY

I grew up in Sylvan Lake, Michigan; a tiny neighborhood in the northern suburbs of Metro Detroit. I attended Grand Valley State University and majored in Film and Video Production. I obtained my Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications in April 2015.

After graduating, I have moved around the country for various opportunities to gain more experience in the overall video production field. My first venture was putting it all on the line by moving to Los Angeles for pursuing an editing internship at Therapy Studios. During my time there, I also worked part time at HeLo Productions as a pre-production assistant and worked on a couple set jobs. After my time in Los Angeles, I moved back to the Detroit area and worked various types of jobs including a part time editing job at KDN Videoworks, and numerous production set jobs around Detroit that included commercials and movies. In October 2017, I received a full time opportunity to be the Director of Video Acquisition at Video Concepts in Marquette, Michigan and moved there to further my career.

After moving to Marquette and being at Video Concepts for a little over a year, they decided to shut down and I received an opportunity to be the Video Producer at Bennett Media Group nearby. During my nearly 5 years living in Marquette, I grew exponentially in both honing my skills in all aspects of video production and how to apply video strategies to marketing. I was fortunate to work with so many types of clients and constantly be challenged with their video needs. As I was approaching 30 and feeling like I have done everything I could being there as well as wanting to be closer to friends and family, it was time for me to make my next move. I accepted an opportunity to be the Videographer at University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design and relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Being at U-M now, I capture stories of both students and staff there to share their creativity and passions. In 2024, I received two Emmy nominations from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the videos “Making Art in Prison” and “A Collaboration for Making Electronic Waste Jewelry”.

A lot of things influence me when it comes to my creative work. Whether it’s current events happening in my life, tv shows, films, music, video games, or hearing stories from various means, I use these experiences to make the best creative product to my ability. Whenever I start a new project, one of my main goals is for that project to have value, meaning, and an impact. I hope whatever I make, it sticks out to viewers and will make an impact.
